Want to hear what emotional stress sounds like?
"No way, I'm not opening any of those old wounds, I'm perfectly happy with my life and don't need any help."
Liar, Liar, pants on fire!

Everyone is a big fat liar when it comes to dealing with his or her own baggage and emotional stress, and rightfully so. It is a protective mechanism that needs to be embraced and celebrated.
Only one person in your life gets to decide if it is safe to sneak a peak out from behind your pillow and face those dreaded monsters. And that person is YOU.
Ready or not, at some point we all come face to face with our demons. The end result is either continued suffering, or joy and freedom. The result is dependent one of two choices:
Neither choice is easy, but I guarantee that choice 'A'. is smarter in the long run.
With one breath at a time.
And with one thought at a time.
Don't think about the final outcome. It can be too overwhelming. Instead, consider making one small step. Maybe it is writing in your journal about it, maybe it is opening the phone book or internet to speak to someone, maybe it is tuning into the man in your mind and wathching your thoughts or perhaps for you the next safe step is going for a walk.
It does not matter what it is, as long as you are willing to embrace what is and work through your emotional stress. You can't do it wrong and you can't make a mistake.
As you embrace your emotional stress and face it head on, you will find that you get overwhelmed from time to time.
This is completely normal, and there is a simple solution.
It is called Rescue Remedy. You may not be familiar with it, but it is an over the counter homeopathic remedy that works wonders to help you cope with the different emotional aspects of your stressful situation.
I have found it to be so helpful for so many people (myself included) that I have written an entire page on it...just click on the rescue remedy link to ready more.
We are all screwed up! There is no perfect life, regardless of how wonderful it looks like from the outside.
Surprised? Don't be. Yes, even me, Dr. Lisa, who is writing this website has my own personal demons and emotional stress to deal with.
The beauty of facing my own emotions and baggage is that I grew into an amazing teacher with empathy and compassion. I now get to use what I have learned to serve and heal the world. It is a true gift like none other, and I have all my monsters to thank.
To every single person who spat on me, kicked me when I was down and slapped me in the face when I was not looking: I sincerely and humbly owe you a debt of thanks and gratitude from the bottom of my heart.
My hope is that you find this same gift. All you have to do is make the choice. Begin to watch your thoughts, down a little Rescue Remedy now and again, and turn on the lights in your head so that you can get out from under the covers and face it!
I'm not saying that those personal demons and monsters in the closet do not feel completely real, but be clear with yourself - they no longer need to control your life.
I promise you, it will be the best choice you'll ever make. And you will take your first step down the road to reinventing yourself and investing in your authentic happiness: .
