The Critical Value of Heart Intelligence in Mapping Life Success.

Heart Intelligence is my absolute favourite topic of discussion and it lies at the heart (no pun intended) of my life's work: serving people by connecting their head to their heart.

Heart Intelliegence The western world prides itself on higher education and knowledge, a function of logic and rational thought that strengthens the hemisphere of the left-brain.

This is a wonderful gift that modern science and intellects have given us. In the same token, however, it has become a nemesis to the growth and evolution of the world. We have completely ignored the value of heart intelligence and the right brain.

The right brain is critical for processing intuition, non-verbal emotions and holistic concepts of creative capacity. It is the emotional intelligence center of the right brain that allows us to develop our spiritual being-ness and opens the door to compassion and empathetic understanding.

There are few modern schools that focus on the development of both left and right brain functions and it is my belief that this is why we are failing so dismally as a human race. We are still witnessing wars (between countries as between two individuals), genocide and slavery in many parts of our world, even our own back yards.

Emotions are the driving force of all behaviour and when we get stuck in rational, left brain intelligence, we destroy our spiritual integrity. We are stressed beyond capacity and we many are challenged to experience success and happiness in life.

As we cultivate heart intelligence and connect our head to our heart's passion and desires. We move from fear-based choices to development of inner security and wisdom in the knowledge that "everything is a beautiful gift to be experienced". In this mode of thought, there is no 'wrong choice', only a new opportunity to listen to our soul's calling.

The Physiology of the Heart's Brain

The heart has it's own inner nervous system as well as its connections to the brain in our head.

The heart generates an electromagnetic field, which is much stronger than the brain's electromagnetic field and can extend for up to 12 feet beyond the body. This is why you can a great person's 'presence' when they walk in the room.

It is the magnitude of the heart's electromagnetic field that makes people say "I just love being around him/her, they always make me feel great". It is an effect called entrainment where all lower vibrations move toward higher frequencies. This is the essence of all healing work.

Why is Heart Intelligence so Valuable?

Specifically, it has to do with something known as heart rate variability.

What we know is that the more variable the rate of the heart is, the greater the person's capacity to 'go with the flow' in life. These people "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff". As a result, they experience Authentic Happiness.

Someone with low heart rate variability is someone who is spiralling out of control, literally. Any little thing can set them off the edge and into a downward spiral. It is not really their fault, but the state of their nervous system. It is in full on STRESS mode and they can't slow down long enough to get a handle on it.

Someone with low heart rate variability, experiences a very small electromagnetic heart field and their life is not one of harmony. They are not able to find creative solutions to challenges because they are stuck in their left-brain at best.

Simply, "Heart intelligence is the flow of awareness, understanding and intuition we experience when the mind and emotions are brought into coherent alignment with the heart." This was a quote from the Institute of Heart Math, a leading authority on Heart Intelligence and Heart Rate Variability.

How can I improve my heart intelligence?

I use to use heart rate variability testing in my private practice for years. It was my all time favourite measurement tool, and incidentally, it was also a favourite of my patients.

We would measure it on people every few months to make sure they were making choices in their life that was consistent with 100% of their potential. If they were stress, and showed a low score, we knew that some changes needed to be made to get them back on track.
