Start Your Day With a Tall Glass of Lemon Water

Lemon Water Add a glass of lemon water to your morning routine. This is one of the quickest and easiest energy boosting techniques around.

Give up your cup of java and down a refreshing glass of water and freshly squeezed lemon as soon as you get up each morning.

Why you ask?

Because unlike caffeine, it will not artificially and harmfully stimulate your adrenal glands to give you a morning rush, instead, water with lemon will produce 'clean energy' for your body by:

  • Flushing out your liver toxins,
  • Hydrating your cells and organs, and
  • Oxygenating your brain to rev you up for the day!

Coffee is a diuretic, it will deplete your body of water and essential minerals like calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium. And it will increase your level of stress hormones...this is why you feel a jolt...your system is being forced to produce stress hormones that move you into fight or flight response.

By drinking caffeine, you are completely annihilating the good nights rest you just had. Your body is automatically forced into stress mode...how can this be a good thing when we are all so over-stressed to begin with?

Lemon Water and our Liver:

In my opinion the best reason to begin a lifestyle habit of drink a glass of lemon water each morning is its positive liver detoxification properties.

As you sleep, your body continues to work, healing, repairing and detoxifying your body. So first thing in the morning, your liver, a primary detoxifying organ, has a large load of toxins that it needs to dump.

Fresh lemon will act as a natural body detox as it stimulates your liver enzymes to release toxins like uric acid, the toxin responsible for arthritic conditions like gout.

Other Benefits of Lemon Water:

Lemon is also one of the few foods on the planet that is energetically similar to our body's digestive juices such as saliva, hydrochloric acid, bile and stomach enzymes, so it is a perfect way to prime our digestive system for the day.

Dr. Beddoe in his book called "Biological Ionization in Human Nutrition", suggests that lemon water be incorporated into all adult and most children's diets (other than in the case of active ulcers or allergy).

Symptoms such as belching, heartburn, bloating, constipation and diarrhoea are relieved when including a daily morning glass of lemon water.

It is also useful in those with prolonged menstrual cycles and uterine hemorrhages.

Lemon is also high in anti-oxidants and electrolytes - a rich source of vitamin C, potassium, calcium and magnesium. Due to its calcium metabolism properties, including lemon water in pregnancy will assist in building bone in the developing child and is likewise helpful in building strong, healthy teeth.

And from a dietary perspective, lemon, although you might think it to be acidic, is actually alkaline as it enters your body. It acts as an alkaline food, promoting acid base balance in the blood stream.

How to Include Lemon Water in your Diet:

Simply, slice a lemon in half and squeeze the juice of one half a lemon into a glass of water. It has been suggested to do this twice a day, or instead, drink the entire lemon (both halves) at one sitting.

If you find it too sour, add a bit of natural maple syrup or stevia to your glass.

And be assured that the juice is freshly squeezed. Pasteurized and packaged lemon juices are energetically ineffective as a health tonic.

I have been told a unique trick in selecting 'sweet' lemons...well, as sweet a lemon as is naturally possible. It has to do with the mineral content, and you will find that in comparing equal sized fruit, the heavier the lemon, the higher the mineral and sugar content.

Another way to know is to look at the area where the stem grew. You will see small little lines (like laugh lines around your eyes as you age). The lines will look like a star and the more points on the star, the higher the mineral content, therefore the sweeter the lemon.
